Finite volume methods for convection-diffusion equations with right-hand side in H−1

چکیده
Our purpose is to prove the convergence of a finite volume discretization of (1.1). Finite volume methods have been widely used to approximate solutions to convection-diffusion equations, either using structured or unstructured grids (see for example [2], [9], [5], [6], [8]). The grids we consider here are the same as in [5], that is to say grids made of convex polygonal control volumes with some geometrical properties (see the next section).

Error estimates for the convergence of a finite volume discretization of convection-diffusion equations
We study error estimates for a finite volume discretization of an elliptic equation. We prove that, for s ∈ [0,1], if the exact solution belongs to H1+s and the right-hand side is f + div(G) with f ∈ L2 and G ∈ (Hs)N , then the solution of the finite volume scheme converges in discrete H1norm to the exact solution, with a rate of convergence of order hs (where h is the size of the mesh).
متن کاملFinite integration method with RBFs for solving time-fractional convection-diffusion equation with variable coefficients
In this paper, a modification of finite integration method (FIM) is combined with the radial basis function (RBF) method to solve a time-fractional convection-diffusion equation with variable coefficients. The FIM transforms partial differential equations into integral equations and this creates some constants of integration. Unlike the usual FIM, the proposed method computes constants of integ...
متن کاملNumerical Study of Natural Convection in an Inclined Cavity with Partially Active Side Walls Filled with Cu-water Nanofluid
The buoyancy-driven fluid flow and heat transfer in a square cavity with partially active side walls filled with Cu-water nanofluid is investigated numerically. The active parts of the left and the right side-walls of the cavity are maintained at temperatures Th and Tc, respectively, with Th>Tc. The enclosure’s top and bottom walls, as well as, the inactive parts of its side walls are kept insu...
متن کاملNumerical solution of Convection-Diffusion equations with memory term based on sinc method
In this paper, we study the numerical solution of Convection-Diffusion equation with a memory term subject to initial boundary value conditions. Finite difference method in combination with product trapezoidal integration rule is used to discretize the equation in time and sinc collocation method is employed in space. The accuracy and error analysis of the method are discussed. Numeric...
متن کاملFinite Element Methods for Convection Diffusion Equation
This paper deals with the finite element solution of the convection diffusion equation in one and two dimensions. Two main techniques are adopted and compared. The first one includes Petrov-Galerkin based on Lagrangian tensor product elements in conjunction with streamlined upwinding. The second approach represents Bubnov/Petrov-Galerkin schemes based on a new group of exponential elements. It ...
